U.S. Companies Urge Restraint On Russia Sanctions

President Barack Obama’s move to expand sanctions punishing Russia could raise fears in corporate America of an extended economic confrontation with Moscow.

… “Our position as sceptics of the efficacy of sanctions is that at best they are a tactic and they do not work if they are not unilateral. Therefore, do no harm and unite,” says Richard Sawaya, director of USA Engage, a business coalition set up in 1997 to “promote alternatives to the use of costly and ineffective unilateral US sanctions”.
